This policy explains how information is handled on HireDriver.ca, a driving jobs website operated by Ontario Truck Driving School (OTDS). It covers job seekers, employers and visitors using this website.
Privacy at a glance
- An application submitted through the site is stored on HireDriver.ca and shared with the employer for that job.
- Adding an online resume makes its details and contact information available to employer account holders and site administrators.
- Resumes, uploaded files and applications are separate records. Removing one does not necessarily remove the others or copies already received by an employer.

Information we collect and why
Accounts: We collect the account and profile information you provide, such as your name, email address and login details, to create and manage your account, provide account access and send service messages.
Online resumes: The resume form collects your name, email address, professional title, location and resume content. You can also choose to add skills, a photo, video, website or social profile links, education, experience and a resume file. This information supports your candidate profile and helps employers assess potential candidates.
Job applications: The application form collects your name, email address, message or cover letter and any CV or resume you choose to submit. We use these details to deliver and manage your application for the selected job.
Employers and job listings: We collect account, company, job and application-contact information supplied when a job is posted. Published listing details, including any contact details placed in the job description, can be viewed by visitors and may appear in search engines or job feeds.
Alerts and saved items: If you use job alerts, we store your email address and the search criteria and delivery choices you provide to send matching opportunities. Saved jobs, resumes and any notes you add are stored to provide those features.
Messages: When you contact us, we use your message and contact information to respond and handle your request. Include only information relevant to your enquiry or job search. Keep government identity numbers, banking details and medical records out of resumes and cover letters.
Who can see resumes and applications
Online resumes are discoverable by employer accounts. The site is configured to let employer account holders and administrators browse online resumes, view candidate names and resume details, and access contact information. Adding an online resume is a separate action from applying to one specific employer.
The site asks search engines not to index resume listings. Search engines decide whether to honour that request. Share an uploaded resume file only if you are comfortable with recipients keeping a copy.
Applications go to the employer for the job. Applications submitted through HireDriver.ca are stored on the site for application management. Site administrators can access them, and the relevant employer can review them. Applying with an online resume can also include its details in the application email.
Employers may download, email or retain the information they receive for their own recruitment process. Contact the employer directly about its handling of those copies. When a job links you to an external application website, that website handles information under its own privacy notice.
Other sharing and service providers
Website hosting, security, email delivery, form and job-board tools process information needed to run these services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address fraud, misuse or security incidents, as permitted by applicable law. We do not sell or rent your personal information.
Our website and email data are hosted in Canada. Google Analytics and other third-party service providers may store or process information outside Canada. Information processed in another country may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement or national security authorities under local law. Cookies and website activity
WordPress uses cookies to support sign-in, keep you logged in and remember certain account or display choices. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps the login active for longer. Logging out removes the login cookies. You can manage or clear cookies in your browser; blocking them can prevent account features from working.
Job-board tools collect listing activity, including page views and search impressions, to display job performance statistics. Hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP address, browser information and request times to deliver the website, diagnose problems and protect it from misuse.
Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use HireDriver.ca and improve the website. Analytics information can include pages visited and interactions, browser and device information, operating system, language, and the source that brought you to the site. Google processes this information to provide usage reports.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not necessarily stop all analytics measurement. Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on can prevent supported Google Analytics browser tags from sharing visit activity with Google Analytics. See Google’s explanation of the add-on and its limits.
Pages may contain embedded media or links to other websites. Loading embedded content can allow its provider to receive information about your visit and use its own cookies. Review that provider’s privacy notice and browser controls before interacting with it.
Job alerts and communication choices
Job alerts use the search and delivery choices you select. Manage or remove them on the Job Alerts page, or contact us for help. Account, security and application messages support the service you have requested.
HireDriver.ca and OTDS use contact information to send optional promotional emails about their products, programs and services, with consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. You can ask us to stop these messages by contacting gus@otds.com or using an unsubscribe option where provided. An application or online resume is for recruitment; this policy does not provide blanket consent for unrelated marketing.
Retention and removal
Online resumes and job application records are scheduled for permanent deletion three calendar months after their original creation time. Editing or relisting a record does not restart this period. The automatic process also removes associated uploads managed by the site’s resume and application tools. You can contact us to request earlier removal.
Cleanup runs in scheduled batches and may occur after the eligibility date depending on website activity and the number of older records waiting for removal. Shared uploads, unsafe file paths or removal errors can require staff review before an affected record is removed. This process covers records and managed uploads on HireDriver.ca; employer copies and any hosting backups require separate handling.
You can manage your own online resume on My Resumes. For removal of related application records, account information or uploaded files, contact us and identify the records involved. Account removal and removal from visible pages should not be treated as confirmation that every related file or record has been erased.
Some information may need to be retained for legal, administrative or security reasons. Removing information from HireDriver.ca does not recall copies already sent to or downloaded by an employer. Contact the relevant employer about information it holds separately.
Access, correction and privacy requests
To request access to your personal information, ask for a correction or deletion, withdraw consent, or raise a privacy concern, email gus@otds.com with the subject “HireDriver.ca privacy request”. Include the email address used on the site and enough detail to locate the relevant account, resume, job or application. Avoid sending identity documents unless a secure verification method has been arranged.
We may need to verify your identity before providing information or making changes. Requests are handled subject to applicable law and any permitted retention requirements or access exceptions. Withdrawing information needed to provide a feature may prevent that feature from continuing.
If your concern remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy regulator responsible for your situation.
Protecting your information
The website uses HTTPS and account permissions to help protect information in transit and restrict access to account features. Online services and email carry security risks. Keep your password confidential, sign out on shared devices and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Updates and contact
The date above shows when this policy was last revised. We will update this page when the practices described here change and seek additional consent where required for a new use or disclosure.
